Jennifer Marshall

Jennifer grew up in a suburb of Denver before the death of her beloved grandmother prompted the family to move to Carbondale, Colorado. This small mountain town nestled in the Roaring Fork Valley was her home for the next three years. Living in the tiny town solidified her decision to join the military after high school. In high school, she played basketball for the Lady Rams, was a Varsity cheerleader, a member of the Speech and Drama team, editor of the high school newspaper, on the yearbook staff, state Vice President of Membership for HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America), sang in show choir and honor choir, and was a frequent face in the annual school musical. One month after graduating high school, Jennifer joined the United States Navy and was shipped off to boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois. She spent nearly five years in the Navy and was stationed on San Nicolas Island, the most remote of the California Channel Islands, and later, on the USS Roosevelt, a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier home ported in Norfolk, Virginia. While in the military, she worked as an aircraft handler, in aviation logistics, was a member of the Ship's Security Defense Force Team as well as the Repair Locker Fire Team. She also worked as a representative for the ship's Sexual Assault Victim Intervention program, advocating for sailors who had experienced trauma resulting from rape or sexual assault. During her tour on the Roosevelt, she also earned her Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist designation. In 2003, Jennifer deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where the USS Roosevelt, in tandem with the USS Harry S Truman, engaged in strikes intended to topple Saddam Hussein's regime. Jennifer separated honorably from the service as a Second Class Petty Officer after serving five years and earning the following awards: Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, National Defense Medal and Meritorious Unit Commendation (among others). She has spoken positively about her time in the military and heavily advocates for veteran's issues. Jennifer graduated Magna Cum Laude from Virginia Wesleyan University with a double major in International Politics and Spanish and a minor in History. Jennifer received her graduate degree from American Military University in Administration of Justice, graduating with a 3.994 GPA. She is also a licensed Private Investigator in the state of California and is active in the award-winning, Congressionally recognized non-profit Pin-Ups for Vets.
